We are a private breeder In San Antonio, TX that specializes in high quality bearded dragons, western hognose, and dubia roaches. We have a lot of different morphs, and are working on expanding our breeding program. Some of the bearded dragon lines that we are currently or will soon be breeding include Dunner bearded dragons, German Giants, Citrus Italian leatherbacks, Snow leatherbacks, Citrus sunburst leatherbacks, Witblitz, and more. Some of the Western hognoses we are working with include Albinos, anacondas, snows, arctics, toffees, etc. We breed reptiles because we love them. Bearded dragons are extremely docile and seem to prefer the company of people more than that of other bearded dragons. They are probably the ideal reptilian pet. The hardest part of keeping a bearded dragon as a pet is the cost of the initial setup, and caring for or obtaining the insects that they need to eat.
It is our passionis to breed healthy and beautiful animals. It is your job to educate yourself on how to care for your new friend. You can do this by following the shopping list and care sheets on our website, by visiting other websites, joining online forums and local reptile associations, talking to people at reptile expos, and talking to people you know who may have reptiles or bearded dragons. We also recommend purchasing at least 1 good book on the care of your new animal. Please remember that the people posting or giving you information may not have the same knowledge or motivation for providing the information and some of it may even be dangerous to your animal. Also remember that there are many ways to raise a happy and healthy reptile, and what works for one person may not work as well for you. If you have any questions or concerns before or after purchasing your new friend, feel free to call or contact us through our website and we will do our best to assist you.
Health Guarantee
Our health guarantee is for 14 days but does not include problems arising from incorrect husbandry. Since we have no guarantee of their care after their arrival, our responsibility ends at this time. Keep in mind all animals may go through relocation stress until they adjust to their new home and schedule. Stress in animals can be demonstrated by a lack of appetite, stress marks, lack of activity, changes in coloration, avoiding their basking spot, and clawing at the enclosure. This usually doesn’t last more than 2 - 3 days. For more information on stress please check out the “Bearded Dragons & Stress” section on the resources page of our website. If I don't hear from you within 24 hours after delivery we assume you are delighted with your new dragon and the transaction is complete. Please try to follow our care instructions on the website. And feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. We are available by phone or email to answer any questions on feeding and husbandry until your dragon or hognose adjusts to their new environment. Eating, drinking, and basking are good indicators that all is well and your new dragon is adjusting to their new home.
If after 2-3 days your dragon still isn’t eating or is acting ‘funny’ or if you have any concerns about the heath of your dragon please contact us ASAP. Usually a minor modification to the enclosure, lighting, temperature, or feeding is all that is necessary to address the issue. A photo of your setup may be requested .Do not wait more than 3 days to contact us since one extra day can have a detrimental effect on a reptile that can be as small as 7” long. If you do not hear from us within 24 hours please call us since we receive a lot of calls and emails each day, and sometimes have issues with dropped calls and lost emails. Western hognose can stop eating for no reason and may periodically skip meals.
For the health guarantee to be in effect you must follow the instructions on our care sheets to a reasonable degree. All health replacements and refunds require that the animal be shipped back to us within 48 hours of notifying us there is a health issue. If any health issues are verified, we will reimburse the shipping costs for the return of the dragon and pay the shipping for the replacement dragon under the health guarantee.
Replacement animals are limited to equal value of the purchase price, and will be provided as soon as a comparable replacement is available. Health refunds and exchanges are made on an individual basis at our discretion, and after verification of any health issues.
100% Satisfaction guarantee
We also offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee with all of our snakes & dragons. South Texas Dragons wants to provide you with a pet that you are completely satisfied with. We will send you additional pictures of the animal prior to purchase if requested. We are also available to discuss any questions you may have on keeping bearded dragons or western hognose before or after you purchase one.
If after receiving your animalyou are disappointed in any way, contact us within 24 hours. Return the dragon to us within 48 hours in good health and we will try to correct any issues promptly upon the receipt of the returned bearded dragon. It may be some time before a comparable replacement is available due to the inventory. The shipping charges for delivery and return are the responsibility of the purchaser and will not be refunded. We hope that this will be unnecessary since it just adds unnecessary stress to the dragon.
When you receive your dragon or snake it may not appear to be the same animal as in the picture, but we take care to make certain you are shipped the exact specimen in the photo cataloged by number. Due to the stress, shedding, and the temperatures during shipping a snake or a bearded dragons coloration may become lighter or darker. This may last until they become acclimated to their new environment, or are done shedding. Please be aware that baby dragons shed every 2-3 weeks as they grow, and get more colorful with each shed. Bearded dragons do not reach their full pattern & coloration until about 12 months of age. Bearded dragon coloration also depends on a variety of variables such as heating, lighting, diet, stress, age, etc.
We will do our best to accurately determine the sex of each snake and dragon before being offered for sale. However, because the sexing of immature snakes and bearded dragons can be difficult, gender cannot be guaranteed on dragons less than 4 months of age and snakes less than 6 months.
We do not cover any of the shipping costs for this type of replacement; they are the responsibility of the buyer.
Return Policy
We are unable to accept any returns on snakes or dragons that have been in contact with any other reptiles. Your new pet should be quarantined for at least 30 days and preferably for 90 days separate from any other reptiles you may have. If multiple dragons or snakes are purchased from us at the same time they may be kept together during the quarantine period. This is due to viruses and parasites other animals may carry. If we allowed you to ship the animal back to us it could infect our entire collection. This is a risk we will not take. If your reptile is kept with other dragons or other reptiles all guarantees are void.
If returning an animal for satisfaction or a health problem please contact us to make arrangements to do it quickly. This may be critical to the animal’s health and we want the dragon to be in a stable healthy environment as soon as possible. Shipping is stressful on all animals.
The buyer is responsible for the shipping charges for the return of the animal. The expense will only be reimbursed for animals returned under the health guarantee with verified health issues. All other refunds are for the price of the animal only. Shipping charges are not refundable under the satisfaction guarantee. Under the satisfaction guarantee the dragon must be received in good health before a refund of the purchase price or shipping of a replacement dragon can be processed.
